BecomeaCanadian: What Does “Invitation to Apply” (ITA) Mean?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]When a foreign national who is a skilled worker applies for immigration to Canada through the Express Entry system, a Canadian government agent will review the details to see if the applicant is likely to qualify for Express Entry to Canada. If so, then the file is added to the list of other candidates. This process continues for up to one year. Become a Canadian is a private immigration firm that caters specifically to foreign workers who want to move to Canada to find employment opportunities and a new life.

To be selected from the Express Entry pool of potential candidates for immigration to Canada, the person who filled out the application must have an official “Invitation to Apply” (ITA) for permanent residency from the Canadian government. In other words, immigration to Canada through the Express Entry system is “by invitation only.”

A skilled foreign worker can be selected through the Express Entry system in one of three ways in order to get an ITA. The first is for the worker to get an ITA after receiving a qualifying job offer from a Canadian place of employment, which would usually require a positive Labor Market Impact Assessment and other criteria. Another way to get an ITA is to be nominated by a Canadian territory or province for Canadian immigration through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). The final way to receive an ITA is to have a very high score on the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

Once an ITA is issued, the foreign worker has ninety days to submit their completed Canadian visa application to Canada’s government along with all required documents and fees. The decision for immigration is usually made within six months after the visa application has been submitted.
